Can i delay cfa exam
Withdraw from the CFA exam and re-register as a new candidate. So just to summarize, it is not possible to change the exam window and postpone it to a different date without losing the fee, is that right? Hi I want to ask about CFA deferrals. I am from Thailand and a candidate in July Now there is no announcement about the deferrals and I am worried about COVID situation in my country as the number of new cases is increasing everyday, I do not get the vaccines yet and COVID vaccines are insufficient now in my country.
Although the number of new cases is above 3,, people per day, the government in my country does not lock down due to the politic issue and public debt. And today, the number of new cases is highest in the world. I heard that CFA exam will not be deferred if the government in country does not lock down. What should I do? Unfortunately, unless CFA Institute specifically singles out Thailand as a special case, there is very little you can do.
Just send proof i. Covid test results to info hours. Search for: Search Button. If your case meets the criteria, you will get a qualified deferral, but you will forfeit the paid payments. However, the CFA Institute will defer your enrollment to the next scheduled sitting. The CFA Institute policy on forfeiting any fees paid upon deferral is that the paid registration fees plan the exam logistics and provide support services.
The number of paid registrations helps plan for the number of testing centers, computers needed, furniture and exam stationery, and a deferral leaves a space that remains unfilled. If the CFA Institute rejected your deferral request, you could choose to withdraw from the CFA exam up to five days before the set test date.
You will not have to take the exam, but you will have to register if you want to take it at the next sitting. According to the CFA Institute policies on exam withdrawal, you will get a full refund of your registration and exam fees if you withdraw within the first three days after you registered. If more than three days have passed after you registered, you will have to forfeit all the fees paid. You can register for the exam once your withdrawal is processed, but you will pay all the fees again.
If you do not withdraw before the scheduled exam date and fail to sit for the exam, you will have to wait until all the results of the current sitting are released by the CFA Institute before you can register for the next sitting. If you need to withdraw from your CFA exam, you should do so in time and through the proper channels to avoid inconveniences.
It would be best to keep in mind that a withdrawal is final, and you cannot re-register for the same sitting. If you do not want to defer or withdraw from the exam, but you will not be able to sit for it at your assigned testing center, you can request a center change.
You can change your assigned testing center online through your account, and you will not need to forfeit any of your fees. The change is automatic if you do it before admission tickets are released unless the new testing center has no opening.
The CFA Institute would notify you by mail of the change if the requested center has available space if you placed your request after the admission tickets were released. The future is unpredictable, and you cannot tell if you will get medical emergencies or when natural disasters will occur.
However, it is best to try your best to avoid deferring or withdrawing from your CFA exams, especially for Levels two and three that have one sitting a year. Take into careful consideration your weekly job schedule and if you will be able to set apart enough time to study and take time off to sit for your exam. Reading for your CFA examinations will need dedication, and you should understand your priorities if you are still in college. Is it possible to change my exam location when I apply for the deferral free of charge?
As I understand it, yes. I have a similar issue…I have tried contacting CFA institute as of late June via email and the contact center but no luck. I am supposed to move in early September for a job opportunity in another city, and my exam is scheduled for early September in the same time frame.
Is it possible they can make an exception for my case and I sit for L2 in November? Did re-register thing not open yet or is it done by email to cfa institute?
Thank you so much! Based on our reader reports, their issues are getting resolved, albeit after a bit of waiting. Calling is a way to speed things up — I suggest calling their US line rather than the regional ones. Hey , I m appearing for Cfa level 1 in July , but I m suffering from covid, is it possible to reschedule my exam to august or November ?
Yes — you can postpone your exam if you or an immediate family member test positive for Covid within 60 days of your exam. Documentation will be required. Send your test results and your request for deferral to info cfainstitute. I have tried calling and emailing institute but no response received yet.
Sounds like a system error. Currently the wait time is around 4 weeks for non-urgent issues, but fingers-crossed you get a resolution before the final reg deadline. I know I have to pay again I would like to be absolutely sure that I can present myself in November. Yes you can, but you have to withdraw from the August exam before the Nov deadline, which is now 20th July. Withdrawing used to be an online process but now you have to contact CFA Institute to get that done manually for you, so that might take a while.
I missed scheduling deadline for August exam. After mailing the cfa institute with reasons, they sent a mail stating I can schedule my exam until 25 June. But the portal for scheduling is absent on my cfa account. I would contact Prometric directly first, just in case that works. Thanks, the issue got resolved by contacting the institute on the helpline number.
They told it was a issue with a lot of people and resolved it instantly. I am eligible to write my next exam in November I would contact CFA Institute at info cfainstitute. Let us know how it turns out! I am currently registered for the Level 1 July exams but however my passport expired, I applied for the renewal but the process is taking long that i wont have a passport by the July, In Zimbabwe they do not issue emergency travel documents and the whole passport application process is flawed.
What options do I have and how do I go about it. According to the rules as they stand you may not be allowed to take the CFA exam. Can I postponed the November level1 exam, do I have to re-pay the exam fees and registration fees. Hi , I am also facing a same situation like Mohammad Rahimuddin Imad but I have a doubt, In case CFA approved his deferral request then he need to submit any fees or not.? If you or a direct family member test Covid positive within 60 days of the CFA exam, you should be able to arrange for a deferral at no charge.
Proof of this will be needed. After spending 4 hours waiting, all test takers were dismissed and they said they would communicate. I have now been rescheduled to the 31st of May, but I am back at work after having squandered my 8 day leave already. I have deadlines and there is no way I can make it in this window. I am still waiting for a response from CFA after I requested to be deferred to another window.
In my opinion CFA Institute should definitely offer you a date of your choice, since the issues on 25th May were entirely due to Prometric, and by proxy CFA Institute, rather than yourself. Let me know how it turns out for you! Thanks Zee. It seems its the only closest option. Advice is if you want to call CFA, call on Sunday, traffic is lower then. Is there any way possible to shift my CFA exam from July to next window?
Unless CFA Institute cancels your exam due to Covid, unfortunately you will not be allowed to reschedule your exam.
I am currently registered for Augst Lvl 1 CFA, however due to personal medical condition, I would like to defer my exam to the next exam window. I tried emailing CFA info cfainstitute. Please advise what should my next step be. Good luck, and let us know how it turns out! Hi, I am a level 1 candidate and my exam window is May My deferral request has been approved by the CFA institute. I just want to clarify whether I have to pay any fees when I re-register for any other exam window. Please be kind enough to clarify.
Hi Oshadhee, may I know how did you apply for a deferral to have the exam on another exam window? Did you email them info cfainstitute. There have been partial closings in Agilitics, Singapore. Candidates that have been affected will be emailed. Zero regard for the situation in Singaopore. CFA Institute has to have an objective and scalable way of deciding whether to proceed in every locality, and it makes sense to define this based on local rules.
The handling of the Covid situation over the past year has left much to be desired but this I agree with. Or should I wait until May ? Can anyone please let me know the procedure to withdraw from August exam and re register for November exam — Level 1 candidate? Hi, Thanks for the reply. However, my account is only showing an option to reschedule… can you please let me know of any other way?
It would be useful for future candidates to know why this happened, so if you can, do let us know how it turns out for you! Withdrawal is not a self-service option right now, but candidates can withdraw by reaching out to our contact center.
We disabled the self-service functionality because candidates were misunderstanding what it meant to withdraw and accidentally cancelling their registration. We hope to have the self-service functionality reinstated in the future. I raised a ticket to Institute, but yet to receive any revert.
Did you follow the instructions exactly as given by CFA Institute in their email, and do you have a deadline to reschedule your exam? I would keep emailing and calling. Good luck! Any update Shyam on this? Can you please let me if this is resolved. Hi Prachet Sorry for late revert. My suggestion would be to call them in odd time, as most of the time phone numbers are not reachable. Hi, I have done early bird registration for Nov 21 exam 10 days ago, due to some personal reasons and COVID I will not be able to give my Nov 21 exam, Is it possible to cancel my registration as it has only been 10 days and re-register for Feb 22 exam when the window opens on 13th May ?
Please Help! I just submitted the covid report. No response from CFA for a week. Hope you are doing well and not experiencing major covid symptoms. If you have been diagnosed with COVID in the 14 days leading up to your exam appointment, have been exposed to someone diagnosed with COVID in the 14 days leading up to your exam appointment, or are exhibiting symptoms of COVID, you must not report to the test center on your exam day.
Instead, contact us for more information. So if your exam is on 29th May, contact them again on 15th May to request your exam to be deferred. Good luck. If you have any further questions, post a question in our support forum! Thanks for the response. Good catch — I missed that! CFA Institute should give you a deferral on that basis — assuming you manage to get in touch with them.
Let us know how it turns out? Hi Mohammad! Wish you speedy full recovery and solving your issue. One question: Did you send positive Covid test result only?
